Esteban Ocon managed to almost overcome a pit-lane start to secure a points finish for BWT Alpine F1 Team, securing P11 at the chequered flag of the United States Grand Prix at The Circuit of the Americas.

Esteban, wearing his Spiderman super hero tribute helmet - started from the Pit Lane after adding new Power Unit components under parc ferme conditions.

On a two-stop, Hard-Hard-Medium strategy, Esteban came close to the points, with a charge on Mediums on his final stint bringing him just two seconds away from taking the final point.

Despite missing out on points following the pre-race setback, BWT Alpine F1 Team still hold an advantage over McLaren for P4 in the Constructors' Championship on 149 points, as the 2022 Formula One World Championship heads into the final-three rounds of the season.

Esteban Ocon, (Started from the Pit Lane, Finished P11):

“We were very close to finishing in the points after starting from the Pit Lane. We can be pleased to recover from the back to eleventh place with the car showing good pace. I think more was possible – some points would have been fantastic – so we’ll review what we could have done to achieve that next time. We’ll debrief, learn, and move forward to come back stronger as a team.

Mexico is next weekend, so that’s a chance for us to go again and score points.. The battle for fourth place is close, and every top ten finish will be valuable for us. Congratulations also to Red Bull Racing for their very much deserved Constructors’ title.”

Attention now turns to the Mexico City Grand Prix next weekend, a gruelling test on man and machine as the 2022 season nears it's final trio of races.
