MoneyGram Haas F1 Team finished with Oliver Bearman 12th, and Esteban Ocon 14th, at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, held Sunday at the Baku City Circuit.
Esteban took the start from P20, also on hard tires, and was involved in contact on the opening lap with Nico Hulkenberg. The Frenchman pitted under the safety car on lap 1 for medium tires, before coming in again on lap 2 for hard tires, which he preserved through to the checkered flag of the 51-lap race. Esteban classified P14.
MoneyGram Haas F1 Team holds ninth position in the Constructors’ Championship, on 44 points.
Up front, Max Verstappen claimed victory for Red Bull Racing, ahead of George Russell of Mercedes, and Carlos Sainz of Williams.
Esteban Ocon: “It was a good start, and we tried a really aggressive strategy. It’s a bit of a shame on that side, but we’ll review. It’s been a difficult weekend for us, and there are a lot of things to improve on for the next race, and this is what we’ll look out for in Singapore. We need to have a clean sweep with no issues – a healthy weekend – which is what we’re all asking for.”
