Mixed Weekend for Esteban and Haas in Spa

MoneyGram Haas F1 Team drivers Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman started Saturday morning at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps with the 15-lap Sprint – the third of six planned Sprint weekends on the 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship schedule – with Ocon finishing fifth and Bearman seventh.

In a largely processional Sprint, both drivers were able to convert their grid positions into race results, managing tire wear after starting the Sprint on used Pirelli P Zero Yellow medium tires. A total of six points from Ocon and Bearman marked the first time MoneyGram Haas F1 Team has finished in the points at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps since 2018.

For the Grand Prix on Sunday, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team finished with Oliver Bearman 11th and Esteban Ocon 15th, at the Belgian Grand Prix, held Sunday at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

Both Esteban and Bearman started the race on Pirelli Cinturato Green intermediate tires, following an 80-minute delay to the scheduled start due to torrential rain, rolling off from 11th and 12th respectively. Esteban and Bearman retained their positions through the opening phase of the race before swapping places on lap 11, with Bearman slotting into P11, and Ocon P12.

Esteban ducked into the pits on lap 13, also for medium tires, but relinquished time and emerged at the rear of the 20-car train. Esteban worked his way through into P15, which he retained through to the end of the 44-lap race.

MoneyGram Haas F1 Team holds ninth position in the Constructors’ Championship, on 35 points.

Up front, Oscar Piastri led McLaren team-mate Lando Norris to take his sixth victory of the season, with Scuderia Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc third.

Estenan Ocon: "I’m super pleased with the Sprint, six points for the team today is a really good result. We can be satisfied with that as the cars in front were out of reach, so we finished on top of our race, so to speak. It was very close out there in qualifying this afternoon, but there are some positives as we’ve fixed some issues with the balance of the car. For the race on Sunday, I think we got today completely wrong, sadly. We need to put everything together as a team, as we had decent pace in the car, especially later on when it was dry. We stayed two laps too long on the inters and then I went on to used mediums, which we need to review as it was obviously a performance loss.”
