Race Report

Esteban Ocon finished in P11 in the Italian Grand Prix, just missing out on scoring points at Monza - as traffic from the DRS train masked the pace of the BWT Alpine F1 Team machinery.

Following the plethora of grid penalties following Qualifying, Esteban starting from P14 and set about making up ground early on.

Sadly, as is with the nature of the low downforce nature of Monza, DRS trains dominated the midfield running - negating many oppourtunities throughout the race and thwarted the true pace of Esteban and his Alpine A522.

A late race Safety-Car saw Esteban well placed to capitalise on the restart - running in P11 and in touching distance of the ppints.
The race however was not restarted and finished under Safety Car conditions, denying Esteban the opportunity to battle for a points position in the final laps - leading to a point-less weekend for the BWT Alpine F1 Team at Monza.

Esteban Ocon (Started P14, Finished P11):

“It was a tricky race today and obviously it’s disappointing to finish just one position away from the points in the end. The car was performing well, and we had good race pace, which we weren’t able to show with traffic ahead. We’ll refocus and maximise everything for the remaining races from Singapore and onwards.

I’m looking forward to a little break to recover from the triple header and fully prepare for the flyaway races where we’ll look to get both cars back into the points in our fight for fourth in the Constructors’ Championship.”

Formula One now concludes the European leg of the season and heads into the final third of the season, starting in Singapore - which makes it's return to the calendar for the first time since 2019 on the streets of Marina Bay in 2 weeks time.
